Babylon Zoo raised expectations to astronomic high when their first record, "Spaceman," debuted at number i in England in 1996. It became the fastest-selling exclusive in U.K. history, moving 250,000 copies in one and only workweek. However, it was a short-lived love story. Babylon Zoo was the inspiration of Jas Mann (vocals, manufacturer). Born in Dudley, West Midlands, England, on April 24, 1971, Mann was a skill fiction fan, and his original radical, the Sandkings, was named after a sci-fi short tale by George R.R. Martin. The Sandkings open for the Happy Mondays and the Stone Roses in the early '90s, only Mann left the isthmus because of creative differences. In 1993, a three-track demonstration from Mann's following plan Babylon Zoo earned him a condense from Phonogram Records. Two long time by and by, Levi's used "Cosmonaut" for a TV ad afterward hearing the melodic phrase on a Manchester, England, radio station. However, the immense success of "Cosmonaut" turned Babylon Zoo into of the biggest one-hit wonders. When Babylon Zoo released an record album, 1996's The Boy With the X-Ray Eyes, there was disappointingly mild interest; it was a dud, and Babylon Zoo became largely disregarded.

Only A Handful Of Viewers Watching Abc's Webcast
Despite its effort to attract younger viewers to the online version of ABC World News With Charles Gibson, only 145,000 people accessed the ABCNews.com webpage that links to the webcast, the Wall Street Journal reported today (Wednesday). The 15-minute webcast includes clips from the television broadcast as well as stories about technology and pop culture. In an interview with the Journal, ABC News President David Westin said that he is looking for ways to "reinvent" the online newscast and is considering replacing it with a series of video updates throughout the day. The newspaper's report said that while the ABC News webside recorded 7.8 million page views on Monday and usually averages about 8.4 million, many of those checking out the site -- some three million -- click on "soft" news photos, including stills of celebrities and the "pregnant man."

Jimmy Fallon formally named next "Late Night" host
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - "Saturday Night Live" veteran Jimmy Fallon was officially named on Monday to take Conan O'Brien's place on NBC next year when O'Brien succeeds Jay Leno as host of "The Tonight Show."
The announcement, which had been expected for weeks, was made during a press event from NBC headquarters in New York where O'Brien's "Late Night" show is taped.
The appointment of Fallon, long considered a leading contender for NBC's 12:35 a.m. time slot, completes a talent shuffle set in motion when the General Electric Co-owned network announced in 2004 that Leno would retire from "Tonight" in 2009 and that O'Brien would replace him.
"It's going to be a grind, it's going to be hard, but I'm going to go at it full force," the boyish-looking Fallon told reporters on a conference call. "The fact that I'm stepping into David Letterman and Conan O'Brien's shoes is very exciting."
Fallon said he also was excited to go back to work for Lorne Michaels, who was his boss as producer of "Saturday Night Live" and whose company co-produces "Late Night."
Asked how much his new job would pay, Fallon joked, "I keep asking Lorne and he's telling me not to worry about.
"They're paying me enough," he said. "I just want to live comfortably in Dubai."
Fallon, 33, appeared on "SNL" for six seasons and was co-host of its "Weekend Update" segment. He left the program to focus on making feature films, although such efforts as "Fever Pitch" and "Taxi" fell flat at box offices.

Time Without Consequence
Year: 2006
Tracks: 11
In late 2003, things picked up speedily and a bit weirdly for folkie Alexi Murdoch. Moving to batty Los Angeles from Scotland in the late '90s, Murdoch allow the sleepy, weepy U.K. folks legal ooze into indie and lo-fi influences. But he ne'er did practically with his medicine beyond some local gigs, he worried about detrimental his personal attachment to the songs. That was until September 2003, when Murdoch appeared on Nic Harcourt's tastemaking Forenoon Becomes Eclectic exhibit on the L.A. public wireless vent KCRW. The singer's halt, tippy vocals and unpretentious acoustic guitar work made a huge impact, and suddenly, understanding music licensers -- not to mention major labels -- were knocking on the Scotsman's door. He performed at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2004, was slated for SXSW that March, and made all the teenagers squall when his dust-covered, melancholy "Orange Sky" tinged a specially sentimental moment on the prison-breaking Fox TV hit The O.C. Murdoch took his sudden and unexpected winner in stride, promoting his self-released EP Quaternity Songs and planning a fountain U.S. circuit patch continuing to field offers from the clamouring major labels. However, non finding the right offer, Murdoch decided to over again severally record and issue his beginning uncut, 2006's Clock time Without Consequence, which contained terzetto of the four songs likewise included on his EP.
Hip-hop with an Aussie accent
It isn't every day you hear an Aussie accent in a hip-hop song.
However, Sydney-based hip-hop trio Bliss 'n' Eso's are making in-roads in the US-heavy music genre with their distinctly Australian flavour of hip hop.
The crew's second album Flying Colours launched last month and entered the charts at No. 10 thanks to its range of funky melodies that include Bullet and a Target, which features the 21-member Connections Zulu Choir.
